The Rugby World Cup 2011: starts this Friday. Held in New Zealand for the first time since 1987, the home side are hoping they can repeat that victory. Because it's been pretty lean since. And like all other kinds of World Cup, there's the obligatory hoax prostitution story.

Congrats holden.
I've been playing this for years and I still don't understand the basic principles. Sell/buy/hold etc.

"The question that I have for you all is, like Pontius Pilate, what are you going to do with Jesus?"
From what I can read from the literature, Pilate just wanted peace and stability in his Roman Province. Most of the troubles in Palestine were being stirred up by religious nutters.
That sort of thing could never happen today.

I took Mrs Owl out for dinner, since she's been away for the last week. I didn't tell her that the restaurant I chose was just around the corner from Phnom Penh's best sports bar, with multiple big screens showing all the critical games live. After a lovely meal, I suggested we head there for a drink.
Two hours later, we were hugging each other and jumping around with the Citeh fans (two Mancunians), most of our friends plus a hundred neutrals. Even the United fans (in this part of the world, bandwagon jumpers as you'd expect) who cheered every City mistake were silenced in the end.
I was also back in the good books for suggesting the most happening place in town on a wet Sunday night. Fantastic finish.

The research linked to in this article might explain a lot. Science!
I love the Hitchens quote.

Or the NBL playoffs for that matter.
Maybe they should have relegation, especially when it can produce final days like this.

So these, like, NHL playoffs, do they ever end?

Note: That should be "Other teams..." besides Blackburn, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd.
/see how I got the Rams in there?

And . . . the last team other than Arsenal, United or Chelsea to win a Premier League title are relegated (admittedly, for the second time since they won said title).
Teams that have won the league title (Division 1 prior to Premier League) since Manchester City last won it in 1968, with current status in brackets:
Leeds United (14th in the Championship) * three times
Everton (currently 7th) * three times
Derby County (12th in the Championship) * twice
Liverpool (currently 9th) * ten times
Nottingham Forest (19th in the Championship) * once
Aston Villa (16th) * once

Who would you've played, considering Lucas and Charlie Adams are not healthy? Jonjo Shelvey?
There's Liverpool's problem right there.
I don't blame Dalglish. The amount of money spent on underperformers is one thing for club management, but even if they were playing well, the Liverpool squad is unbalanced. Players are being played out of position, and this is why Championship quality midfielders (e.g. Shelvey, Spearing, and Henderson/Downing fifty per cent of the time) keep getting a run. Adams is an enigma.

Ah Liverpool.
The only decent 30 minutes by Andy Carroll since the transfer. The level of their ambition at kickoff? Jay Spearing and Jordan Henderson start in midfield.

Also, even if we didn't need reminding, but sport can sometimes be deadly. In some cases where the game is usually safe, and in others where it isn't always.

SpoFi 2012 Fantasy Premier League Final Table
As for Euro 2012, don't we usually just have a Pick 'Em?
You know, ranking them 1 to 16 and getting 3 for a win and 1 for a draw. I'm happy if I can beat the FIFA rankings.
