Sports Bio

A life-long Ipswich Town fan, I'm used to dim and distant triumphs, backed up with more recent disappointment. So you'll not be surprised to hear I follow the Dolphins, (0-2 in Superbowls in my time).

For a trivial aside, I have a career record of one catch for nine yards from future Hall of Fame Quarterbacks, when Dan Marino visited the UK in 1986.

He looked quite useful.

Glasgow Rangers Football Club Enter Administration: Winners of 54 Scottish Championships, 60 Scottish cup competitions and a European Cup Winners Cup, Rangers choose to enter administration on their own terms before HMRC could force the club to accept an Administrator of Her Majesty's choosing over tax debts.

They will almost certainly suffer a ten point penalty as a result, effectively handing the Scottish title to main rivals Celtic.

Glasgow clubs Rangers and Celtic dominate Scottish football to the extent that no one else has been crowned the country's champion since Aberdeen in 1984/85. Celtic claim they don't need Rangers despite the threat of the SPL becoming a one horse race.

"Deadspin mashes up the survival Sunday games along with reactions of fans to goals in other stadiums."

Wheeee! I get to be that guy.

When Dzeko scores their standings bar at the bottom gives a green arrow to City that shouldn't be there until Aguero makes it 3-2. At 2-2 the title was still going to United.

Other than that, and the dodgy drumkit music, it was very good.

That'll be Jordan Henderson's first assist of the season.

I think so. I need to facepalm in response to the Bishop's comments, not in response to Pierce's quoting of them.

If you'll pardon the not entirely undeliberate pun, Oh Lord.

"Did this lawyeress check her hairdo before coming into court? If she did, she is a distracted lawyer. If she did not, she is one distorted woman."

I don't have face or palm enough for this story.

At least he asterisked the bad word.

Also, he says "stamped on Neil Lennon" like that's a bad thing.

Some nice moments in Italy yesterday as some old hands played their final games for their clubs - At Milan Rino Gattuso, Alessandro Nesta and Pippo Inzaghi all made their final appearances for the Rossoneri.

Inzaghi, who has been described as being "born offside", even did the decent thing and scored on his swansong to give Milan a 2-1 win.

In Turin, Alessandro Del Piero also scored and was substituted around the hour mark of his final game for Juventus and then ended up on a 10 minute lap of honour demanded by the fans who wouldn't let him sit on the bench. The lap happening while the fans mostly ignored the game that was going on at the time.

Inzaghi has said he's not finished and he might even come and play in the US and then try to organise a loan back to Serie A so he can chase down Roberto Baggio's 318 goals.

Those pink shirts are hot.

This guy is to be commended for almost missing the goal all together, but the fan reaction is great and it's funny to see the other side and even the referee congratulate him.

I presume you heard that on Fox, rcade, as everyone I've heard has taken care to say "first title.".

City win the title in Fergie time. Perfect.

Also, it turns out Joey Barton is an idiot. Who knew.

In one of the more out of left field moments in sports, tomorrow the SPEED network will be showing Chelsea's final Premier League game of the season against Bolton.

I presume it's as a result of Chelsea's new link with the Sauber Formula 1 team.

So if you don't have Fox or ESPN4 you can still see a football match tomorrow, between a team saving themselves for the Champions League final and a team already relegated. Should be a classic!

Manchester City did the job today - at first blush bringing on de Jong for Nasri doesn't seem like a way to get a goal, but de Jong totally frees up Yaya Toure and that turned out to be worth two goals.

It's "only" Swansea, but the pressure's on United now.
