Is This Really Tim Tebow?: A photo, allegedly taken at a golf event, claims to actually be Tim Tebow taking a swing. Seems the lockout hasn't been keeping Tim from working out.

VCU Rocks, Shocks Jayhawks: A few weeks ago, the VCU basketball team watched the Cartoon Network and went out for fast food instead of watching the NCAA selection show. Now they're on their way to the Final Four from the 11th seed, while all number 1 seeds are heading home.

"Turn Out The Lights, The Party's Over": Don Meredith has died at age 72. Most known as one of the original broadcast team on Monday Night Football, he was also the second player placed on the Texas Stadium Ring of Fame.

Like Amani Toomer said last week, though, when respnding to Kurt Warner saying how he hoped his own kids didn't pursue pro football. He said he never really got hurt or really even hit that hard all throughout his time playing football until the pros. Not even in college. It's pro football that's really unsafe and seems to be causing the possible life-altering injury and health issues. There will always be injuries at every level, some traumatic, but it's pro football where the violence is destroying men.
Some of these bright-eyed draft picks don't really know what they're in for. As for high school football, and some of the lower levels, if my kid encountered more than one concussion, I think I'd demand hey hang it up and maybe run cross country.

I never, ever thought this would be the way his career could possibly end. Thinking about it, though, I wouldn't like to watch his career end with him not being able to get anyone out anymore (not that I truly believe he would have let it get to that point).
Regardless, it was a tough thing to watch. Being carted off with a smile on his face and a positive attitude, though, shouldn't surprise anyone. The most consistent athlete in both performance and emotion I've ever seen.

Thinking about it, though, I can't totally agree with the idea that the culture of pro football, at least with regards to the impact the consumer has, support the attitude that injuries (although they are obviously going to happen) are accepted. I don't know anyone who enjoys or supports the idea of players being badly injured or having to be carted off the field. If anything those injuries make me lose interest in watching games. There's nothing worse, from my (a fans) perspective than having a game I'm looking forward to watching not having teams with their best players on the field. When Favre, for example, was playing, how many fans would really be as interested in watching a big game with his team competing if he wasn't playing due to injury? Same with Brady. And watching the Arizona Cardinals ever since Warner (a reported bounty target) retired attempt to find a QB capable of getting the ball to the amazing Larry Fitzgerald, makes me disinterested in even seeing a Cardinal game.
My point is, if the consumers desire to see a good, clean, hard-hitting pro football game directly supports players (or coaches) looking for chances to seriously cripple other players, rewarding them for getting helped off the field, then it's possible the game should be banned.

Did you even listen to Greg Williams' tapes? All he talks about is "Kill the head". He says "Kill the head and the body will die". He tells the players to do damage to the opposing players' heads at the end of each play before getting off them.
That's the fault of the fans? You don't think coaches explicitly saying to do damage to their opponent's heads might possibly impact potential brain injuries?

Again, one story throwing around the idea of injuries possibly leading to Junior Seau's death, and this one about players putting in thousands to hurt other players.
It's to the ridiculous point with this game. Tough for me to shed tears for all these issues regarding the toll of violent play when it's the players bringing the problem on themselves such as in this instance.
There seems to be more and more evidence of the role football plays in the health issues and emotional problems these men deal with in later life, but any real change is slow in coming. I'm totaly behind Goodell hammering these teams/coaches/players for these actions.

With fewer rounds in the draft now versus years ago, the idea these final picks can be around a while isn't really surprising.
That stuff they do for the Mr. Irrelevant sounds like a great time, though. And I love that trophy.

Why Wrigley Field Must Be Destroyed
The Pirates have the most beautiful stadium in the game. Doesn't help them.
Blowing up their horrible ownership would work better. They've been hiding behind the quaintness of Wrigley for years. Fans who wander into Wrigley, believing they are having some religious experience, when all they are really doing is paying to watch mediocre (at best) baseball, only reinforces the chances the owners continue to roll out an inferior product.
